Also 97 is a weird year as it is the only year TJ with two different sets of PCMs based on date of manufacture. I do know that a XJ 4.0 97 auto PCM will run my 98 4.0 TJ with only two issues. Web7 apr 2012 · Try to crank it again, might take a good 6 tries to get the fuel up to the injectors, if you smell fuel stop. Your just flooding it at that point. Give it several minutes to clear. If no go try it with the starting fluid directly into the throttle body. If still no start I'd look into the spark timing using the link I posted above.
