The bearign preload can be changed slightly (maybe +/- 1 inch pound) with the solid spacer by changing the torque on the nut. The crush spacer is done in one installation. The correct way to do this is to use the yoke lock (part of the setup tool kit we bought) and use a breaker bar with a cheater pipe. When you buy a 8.2 bearing kit they always come with both a tall and a short sleeve because of this. The crush sleeve will not make the seal leak. It functions as a lock washer for the pinion nut. helps wounds heal
